lights in one part of my house wont work?
First off live in a mobile home, Recently all the lights in my living room and kitchen and dinning room have stopped working. as have some of the wall outlets in these rooms. I have a breaker box where i have changed all of the breakers (with new ones in case this was the problem) that it could possibly be since only a few were marked. But that didnt fix anything.
When these lights stopped working a bad wall plug in one room did "blow up" I had it changed and it is now working fine. But i dont know what else to do? I cant exactly afford an electrician.
not fuses breakers, it is a breaker box with breakers in it.
and i did replace them with the right amps i replaced them with the exact ones that came out.
Here are a couple of things to try. Do you have any ground fault outlets? Sometimes these can trip and then everything down stream will not work. If you have some try resetting them. Houses are wired in series. In other words the wires go from one thing to the next. If you have a bad connection somewhere, everything after that will not work. Also sometime in an outlet box you will have twist on caps that join some of the wires. You could have a bad connection there. I would go back to the plug that was bad and look for two sets of wires. (two blacks, two whites) Make sure they are all connected because I would bet that even though the plug works now, there are wires that also need to continue the circuit to the rest in the series that are not getting power. I hope I explained this well.
