Used Cars How Can You Tell If They Are Not Worth The Money
The number of complaints received by the Office of Fair Trading in regards to used cars is very high. Quite a large proportion of these complaints are from people who feel they have been duped into buying a banger. It is quite easy for those with some car knowledge to spot the bangers but if you do not know a lot about cars then it is more likely that you will not see the signs.
But the following are some things that you can look out for when you are buying a used car.
- Make sure you have a look under the car to see if you can spot any leaks. Although you can often have puddles under cars which can be explained, it should still be viewed as suspicious.
- The paintwork should be examined carefully. Look out for areas which have a different shade of colour to the rest of the car as this means that something has been painted over. You can assume that the car has been involved in an accident.
- Any of the rubber components in the car should be checked. This includes things such as the belts and caps. If you see that these have been neglected then you can be sure that the rest of the car has received much the same treatment.
- Used cars that look like they have been sitting idle for a long time are at a big risk of developing problems. You will need to check for these.
- Be on your guard if the seller tries to prevent you from taking a test drive in the car. How can you be sure how the car drives if you are not allowed to test drive it? You must be able to drive the car yourself so do not let the driver talk you into letting him take you for a spin instead.
When you think it's time to look out for used cars for sale, you are always better off trying to research your vehicles beforehand. Good research lets you find only the best models available. And when you finally finish your research, you could find yourself leaving the car delears with a splendid used jaguar or even a used lamborghini.
