How to control magnetic DC Motor Works
As manufacturing and industrial plants evolved over the years, so have the ways in which the power of machinery. For power, I mean the control or initiation of movement to perform a process. The key here is that industrial motors themselves. Whether small, medium and large motors need to be controlled. They have to be started, stopped, and varied in overall speed and security to perform their selected function. A motor that turns at unsafe speeds can be hazardous and dangerous for staff to computers that are connected. The controller Engine comes into play to do just that. Monitoring the implementation and accelerating at an appropriate rate, then the engine control to ensure that is operating within its power, and of course the engine stoppage. For decades, a magnetic control of DC motor is the most efficient to do the job. These circuits often complex composed of relays, contactors, timers, and resistances can be found anywhere had an electric motor industrial. At that time, were the new technology to replace drum controller that uses the human element to control the acceleration of an engine. these drivers, the operator is responsible for starting the engine and bring it to its proper speed with a handle attached to a drum of contacts. The faster that the operator chose the handle, the faster the motor accelerated. The operating speed for the motor can be controlled with the handle, stopping at a certain position deviation below the total. Motors may also be reversed using these controls, turning the handle in the opposite direction. battery controllers based an operator too soft to be efficient and safe. The dc magnetic driver easily became the accepted method of motor control at the time.
Controlled acceleration of a DC motor speed controlled and made these drivers ideal for industrial machinery. The names of Cutler Hammer, Westinghouse, Allen Bradley, and GE synonamous with motor control. All circuits consisted of similar but different manufacturers have their own improvements and idiocyncrasies. The motor is usually started and stopped in a normally open and normally closed push button assembly. This controls a relay usually labeled CR, for the relay control. The control circuit is also interconnected with the contacts and Overtemp overload for motor protection, machinery and human personnel. A contactor M indicates a main contactor. These DC contactors are designed with high current contacts, as they are responsible for the application and disconnect the main circuit armor. Once the control circuit is activated, accelerating the engine starts with a series of resistors and contactors. These contactors are typically labeled 1A 2A, 3A, and so on. Accelerate contacts open and close based on the current draw induced some drivers and other timers. Another called the contactor FA contactor or contactor accelerating field remained closed during the motor acceleration. This contact ensures that full power is applied to the shunt field until engine is running at a constant speed. It Imay also be called FF contactor or contactor full field by some manufacturers. Once the engine has reached its proper speed, the FA or FF contactor opens and engine speed control would be handed over to a rheostat. The rheostat would be in series with the field derivation. By varying the current flow through the shunt field, the motors can be regulated by the speed. Some forms of protection in these starters motor have been added in case of failure or motor winding excessive mechanical load. FL contactor or contactor field loss usually designed with line of the coil in series with the shunt field. An open circuit in the shunt field contactor would cause the loss of open field and off the quality control circuit similar to pressing a stop button. The other form of protection and overload it. OL contactor or contactor is used to control OLX an overload situation. These contactors also act as similar to pressing a stop button. usually overloaded senses too much current flows through the motor armature caused by internal motor winding shorts and opens, brush motor failure, a mechanical problem due to worn engine bearings or a mechanical failure of the computer that the engine is coupled.
Other optional features added to these magnetic starters were external components such as meters current staff to observe. A fuel gauge is a good example of the current revised to show up the load on the engine in real time for the operator. Also investment options were allowed to address the motor can be changed with a switch or turning a mechanical drive. With a knowledge of starters magnetic DC motor and basic knowledge of electricity, repair of the control circuits of any of these manufacturers is easier to experience because the basic conceptual framework and Cutler Hammer, GE, Allen Bradley, and Westinghouse were always similar.
