1998 mitsu. eclipse rs... help!?
ok, so my check engine light wont go out. for about 2 years now. i brought it to my mechanic, they said that it was being caused by a crimped line, but to bring it to a mitsubishi dealer for repair. i brought it to them and they said it was because my gas cap wasnt on tight enough (which is what they said 2 years ago when it first came on). they tighten it, charge me $45 and as soon as i drive away it comes back on and they say its my fault. the mechanics say its not the gas cap, they have something that checks that and its not that. anyone have any ideas? someone said that i might be low on windsheild fluid, but that just sounds dumb (and i wouldnt be "low" for 2 years without runing out)
i took the bulb out of the dash to pass emmissions and that worked (except they noticed the light ddidnt come on at all this time and thats what caused having to go to the dealer and the mechanic and all this bs)
Just ignore it. My light has been on my Saturn for over 8 years now, never a problem.
