question about LR circuits?
if i have an LR circuit set up with a function generator producing 1 kHz square waves of max amplitude and a decade resistor R is 100 ohms. I used an oscilloscope to view the waves. then i had a question that said "plot log(V/V0) vs t where V is the voltage across the inductor at time t and v0 is the voltage at t=0. what should the slope of the graph be? and how do i find the inductance of the coil from the slope.
You need to know that V = (L/(L+R)) Vo
So V/Vo = L/(L+R) = the slope (call it S)
Measure the slope, then L = RS/(1-S)
