chain sizes, gear ratios, building an electric bike.?
What is the standard bike chain size? as in number. And also i have a 750 watt 36v electric motor from a schwinn s750 scooter. i plan on using the front cogs to attach the motor to, but which should i use- 1. connect the motor to the larger cog and use the smaller to drive the rear wheel? or- 2. connect the motor to the smaller cog and use the larger one to run the rear wheel? it will be attached to a 24" mountain bike. Please explain why you would use which cog to connect the motor. which would allow farther travel per charge, which is faster, and which will allow the motor to last longer? thank you
2 very important pieces of info are needed. How much torque is given and exactly how many teeth on those gears.... Put the small gear on the motor. Can you attach that to the rear like on the rack so you could use the derailure??? That would be the optimum way to get up hill and max speed on the flats. You could use saddlebags to carry your batts also.
