How to prevent ESD (electro static discharge)?
hi, i was thinking of installing a new processor and all the info on the web says 'BEWARE OF ESD' and say that you have to buy special wrist straps etc. Is it not ok just to not wear anything static-y and take off my shoes, lol?
A strap is best but, you do it without one.
That can work, but is not as safe. Leave the PSU plugged in, but turned off. The, before you touch anything else, touch the metal parts of the case, to discharge any static buildup.
