Any suggestions on how to keep my fox terrier away from her front paw incisions?
My fox terrier was recently hit by a car (who didn't stop) the car broke her foot and took skin off of her shoulder. She had surgery and has stitches from her paw up to her shoulder on her front left paw. The first e-collar given to her was too short and she was able to reach her foot and pull her bandages off. The second e-collar was supposed to be bigger but she was still able to reach her foot but worse this time as she was bleeding everywhere once she ripped those bandages off and she growled at us when attempting to get her to stop. I took matters into my own hand and found an e-collar at the pet store long enough to keep her away from her foot but now she can't reach her food/water. The vet suggests that we just "keep an eye on her". I haven't gotten sleep in a week. Please help! I've searched online for alternatives but my dog is very flexible and smart - I just don't see blow up collars and such working! Thanks
You can take the e-collar off just so she can eat & drink, then put it back on.
The inflatable e-collars keep dogs from being able to turn their necks- it might not help you in this instance since she could still probably get to her front paws. It might work though- you could try putting both types on at the same time).
If she has bandages on again, you can try spraying the bandages with Bitter Apple spray.
