Magpul PRS And PRS2 Rifle Stocks
In the PRS Magpul brought target rifle adjustment to the world of military AR derived rifles. Its immense strength has lead to extensive use by US forces. The machined aluminium adjustment knobs rotate phosphated alloy steel shafts. The LOP can be shortened by 0.25" or lengthened by 0.75" compared to a standard A2 fixed stock. The hieight of the comb can be adjusted by 0.75" and it is also possible to move the cheek weld up to 0.65" fore or aft with allen bolts. Click values are 0.026" and are protected with a positive locking detent mechanism to prevent their moving accidentally. An enhanced strength butt plate withstands impacts and is rated up to 0.50" BMG. A soft rubber butt pad prevents the stock slipping on clothing or armor and can be replaced with a longer version for greater LOP. Sling fitting is via a 1.25" sling loop which can be swapped from side to side as required. A reversible QD swivel (push button type) mount is mounted in the middle of the stock. The Magpul PRS stock has improved from previous versions in having a cover at the bottom that slides off to reveal a Picatinny accessory rail which can be used to attach a monopod or sling swivel. The PRS for the AR-15, M-4 and M-16 rifle is available in black, dark earth, OD green and foliage green. The stock attaches to the rifle's receiver extension tube without the A2 spacer which is not included with the stock. A specific .308 PRS version is made to suit the charging handle clearance of SR-25 and AR-10 rifles. The .308 version is only available in black. If you want to put an existing AR-15 version on a .308 Magpul will sell you the necessary parts to convert it.
Magpul were keen to roll their technology out to users of other battle rifles. The Magpul PRS2 is available for FN FAL and HK G3 rifles. The FAL version only fits fixed stock metric rifles and will not fit folding stock paratrooper variants or any of the inch pattern British Commonwealth FALs. It differs from the PRS slightly in not having the bottom Picatinny rail. As with the PRS the Magpul FAL stock offers the feel of a true target rifle stock in a unit which can endure the rigors of protracted military operations. The stock can add 1.25" on the LOP of a factory FN FAL. It can help balance out the front heaviness of the FAL series. A difference from the AR version is that the sling loop is vertical and positioned near the buttplate.
The G3 version of the PRS2 has an interface to fit the G3 series of rifles. Again it offers counterweight to the normally nose heavy G3 rifle. This stock will also fit the HK-91, HK-93, HK-33, PTR-91 and SL-9 rifles. Use on the CETME requires some gunsmithing. The Magpul G3 stock does not work with the HK heavy buffer. The PRS2 standard and optional extended butt pads differ from those used on the PRS.
