Why does my outlet say "hot/ground reversed" when it is loaded?
I have a tester in one half of the outlet that says correcet (both orange lights lit). When I plug something into the other plug and turn it on, the appliance doesn't turn on, and the tester switches to hot/ground reversed (two outer lights lit up).
Sounds to me that the circuit or that receptacle has lost its neutral connection.I would check this and find out what is wrong with the wiring or circuit before I do any thing else. If over your head and you cannot figure it out call an electrician.
Check the other receptacles and the rest of this circuit as well.
