How do I clean a heat sink in a laptop? Also - where is a heat sink in a laptop?
Hi,
It really depends on the laptop you've got. You could tell me the part-number of your laptop.
In general:
1. Turn on the laptop and locate where the warm air is comming out
2. Turn your laptop off
3. Turn your laptop upside down
4. Undo the screws that are holding the backplate which covers the warm-air output. (sorry for my English)
5. If you get that backplate of, you will probably see something metally in front of the output of your laptop. This is the thing where all the dust is forming a "wall-of-dust" and what you should clean to make your laptop less warm and more quite.
6. If you're lucky, you can already use a vacuum cleaner to get the dust out. Else: locatie the screws that hold something which causes you to not reach the innerside of the output.
7. Undo the screws carefully, and remember where they came from
8. Use a vaccuum cleaner to remove the dust.
9. Put everything back together and you are done
