What is the output voltage of an insulation resistance tester which is required to test a 230 volt circuit?

Rule of thumb is twice operating. 500v usually closest on standard meter.

Be careful though, there are certain cases when you would keep the test voltage to once times. Also some components will not withstand meggar test and should be removed from circuit for testing.
