Design Guide To Tyco Relays
Relays are adjusters that are driven by electric operation. The configuration of a Tyco relay uses electromagnets that allow the switch to electrically operate. When there is a necessity to regulate a circuit for complete isolation between controlled and a control circuit, a low power signal can be used.
The first relays were used for long distance telegraph circuits. In an effort to amplify performance in the early operations of computers and telephones, relays were used for these operations.
A contactor is the type of relay that can control items that require high power such as direct drive electric motors. Power circuits with no moving parts are controlled by solid state relays in this case a semi conductor device is used to enable the switching. In order to avoid overloads and faults, relays can be fine tuned with the use of several operating coils.
The basic design of Tyco relays consists of a soft iron core surrounded by a coil of wire, a detachable iron armature with an iron yolk hinged to it; the yolk and is linked mechanically to one or more sets of moving contacts and also supplies a low resistance path for magnetic flux.A spring then holds the flux in place to allow de-energi'sation to happen which in turn creates an air cavity within the magnetic circuit.
A magnetic field that attracts the armature is generated when an electric current is sent through a coil and this prompts a moveable contact to make or break it.
There are many different points to be taken into consideration when evaluating the basic design of Tyco relays and the type of relay required for a particular task. When evaluating a task, keep in mind the contacts required or contact rating and protection as well as the voltage rating. These are several of the provisions that need to be decided upon when selecting a relay.
The basic design of Tyco relays ensures a fast operation thus in high voltage situations prevents arcing, and in low voltage situations can reduce noise.
