Radioshack Assorted metal film resistors?
I'm doing a small electrical project and i needed some resistors, so i bought these, i need to know how to tell the resistance of each resistor?
On the back it says
First-to-third color band
Black o
Brown 1
Red 2
Orange 3
yellow 4
green 5
blue 6
violet 7
gray 8
white 9
Fourth color band
Black x1
brown x10
red x100
orange x1k
yellow x10k
green x100k
Blue x1meg
silver divide by 100
Gold Divide by 10
Fifth color band: Tolerance gold 5% Silver 10% None 20% Brown 1%

right after i posted this i figured it out, before i was adding the numbers so for example, yellow, violet, black i thought was 11 not 470 haha so i got it now, thanks.
the first thru 3rd band are the 'mantissa' of the value. this means that when the first three bands are RED-BLACK-RED for example, the number is "212"
the fourth band is the "ordinate" or multiplier. you will multiply the mantissa by this power of ten to determine the value of the resistor on hand. If the band was BLUE, using the RED-BLACK-RED example above, the resistor would be 212 x10e6 or 212 million ohms [212 megohm]
other bands are likewise designating tolerance
