What is the solution to excessive moisture in drywall on area of wall that is beneath ground?
I had my inspection yesterday and the red flag is that one room (ground floor unit) is partially below ground (3 feet of the walls) and this area registered high on the inspector's moisture meter.
He said that this is typical for units that are partially below ground, but my concern is that during the fall months (I live in the pacific nw) the moisture build up will lead to mold.
The carpet tacking next to the wall was rusted - due to water and an area of the carpet is damp. I'm going to ask them to raise the carpet, seal the floor, and replace the tacking.
What should I ask them to do regarding the walls?
Thanks for your help.
There are ways to seal walls.
Some are painted on the walls from the inside.
Some also involve some digging and injecting
tar like material on the outside.
I would do both.
