What is a switched neutral in MCCB (moulded case circuit breaker)?
Normally in TPN (Triple Pole & Neutral) MCCBs, only the three phases are switched ON & OFF. The neutral is not switched ON or OFF. It is always solidly linked. But, under certain circuit conditions, you also want to isolate the neutral when the phases are switched OFF. This is called Switched Neutral. This menas that when the MCCB is switched ON, the three phase poles and the neutral pole are made ON and when it is switched OFF all the four open. This is also called a Four-Pole MCCB.
