Will an electric motor run in distilled water?

I have a couple liters of distilled water and an Electric Motor with a propeller. I am going to make an experiment where I need to get the water to move around 3-5 mph. My plan is to make a oval half-pipe, fill it with water, then put the motor in the middle and run it at full speed.

Distiled water is non conductor of electricity but motor designed to work in air will not run smoothly due to friction
Why can U use a pump driven with electric motor.Water proof or submersible pumps are available.
