Should I buy a 17 Range Analog Multimeter return the 15 range digital multimeter, or what?
I think the Analog multimeter is more perfesional than the digital one, I'd think that people like me when I first didn't really know what I was doing, would go out and buy the Digital one, which I did, and not even think about the analog because the Analog sounds, well, Analog, lol.
Should I go out and get the Analog one too, or should I just return the 15 range digital and get and keep the 17 Analog?
I like the one that I have now, but I'm pretty sure that a needle being moved is a better indicator than LCD Display, right?
Plus, why would Radio Shack Sell a 17 Range Analog MM for less than a 15 Range Digital MM?
Because the Analog is better, and gives a better reading right, other than powering the LCD display, and that's why the Analog runs on two 1.5v (3v) batteries and the Digital runs on a 12v battery, plus the AAA can be recharged, the 12v battery can't.
What are your opinions on Digital vs. Analog Mutlimeters?
This is a point of view of an electrician that works in industry, maybe will help you to make a decision.
I keep both; It depends the work you are going to do, for example,
to know the Ohm value of a resistor with color bands, it is perfect to have a digital meter (Auto Range) because it gives you the exact value.
But when you got some troubles and you don't have a stable reading, you have more information with an analog meter because you will know the pattern of what is going on. That is useful when you get some troubles with a car alternator or when you want to stabilize a electronic circuit (I think it is not your case) but, the analog meter gives you always more idea than a digital meter.
Look your watch (if it is analog) some times, you see it, and you do not know the exact time, but you have the exact idea that is to late or to early for your date.
That is why we retured to analog watches.
I hope this will help you with your decision, and the good analog meters are more expensive than a good digital meter.
