R51 LCD backlight doesnt work. any suggestions?
My laptop is outta warranty. The back light is totally off. I checked out the O/P from the inverter card (INVC647, Hitachi make) on multimeter but doesn't show anything. But the status indicators on the inverter & the LCD display are working fine otherwise.

I have following questions:
1) What basically is the function of the inverter card? It drives the power etc status indicators & what more? There are 2 wires coming out if it on the other end, red & black. Is it for the back light? (showing 0V on it)
2) I suppose Red & black wires show that the back light runs on the DC, but what magnitude? Wanna know it so that i can check the back light by driving it by external voltage.
can u see the image of your laptop?if u can usually u have to pop open the laptop,were the screen is at,n u have to replace the converter usually what it is,if its not taht then its the bulb,but i had it on a dell n i switched in n work fine...
