how to test a battery with a multimeter?
i just tested my car battery with a multimeter. i found the following -
with the car off after sitting overnight, the battery reads 11v
while starting the car, it dips to 7.24v
when the car starts and is running, it shows 15v
when the car is running and has a/c, radio, and lights on it shows 14.24v
when car is off and has a/c, radio, and lights on it shows 10.24v
this means to me that it's charging. does the other data show that i need a new battery?
the reason i checked is because it doesn't always start in the morning and i end up having to push it to start or get a jump. sometimes after short trips it also doesn't start, or starts to click before starting.
car is 2005 ford mustang 6 cyl. not sure if it's the original battery or a replacement.
Reading from your statement
The battery is no longer useful, the alternator is perfect.
