What are some guidelines on reading the ACV, DCV, DCA and ACA on a Multimeter?
First rule of thumb is to have the leads properly connected for the proper polarity, when required. Then start at the highest scale for the particular range and signal type before measuring the signal and gradually decrease the scale for a proper reading. All voltage readings are read from the point you want to measure to ground or return for that circuit. Current measurements require you to connect the meter in series in the circuit you want to measure current, unless you are talking about high current in that a clamp type probe is used.
