what is with the time period for current readings on a multimeter?
in physics lab we have left multimeters that are set on volts and current attached to the circuit for long periods of time and didnt have problems.
but now im seeing this 15 sec intervals and such for current readings in some multimeters. what is up with that? does this mean i can leave a multimeter attached anymore like we did in lab?

Without seeing your link, any digital multimeter has a defined sampling rate. So if after the sampling time interval has expired, the next indication will remain 'til at least the next sampling period expires, when it resamples.
Cheaper meters usually sample less often, sometimes maybe 2 seconds or more. Any change when the sample is read will be held until the next sampling.
Maybe the sampling rate is in the specs, maybe not.
