Please help me with this pressure transducer .?
Here is the pdf schematic diagram of the transducer: http://www.omega.com/Pressure/pdf/PX40.pdf
My questions:
I am a medical researcher and need this info for some bench research (no patient contact), so i am not a electronics pro ... any help much appreciated.
I have a variable DC power supply, that can provide between 0 - 30 V , up to 500 mA.
In the pressure transducer in the diagram , which terminals (1,2,3) do I apply the 5 V excitation voltage ? Do I need to connect a current limiting resistor, or can i connect the transducer straight to the power supply (i.e.. like a LED , does it need a current limiting resistor?).
To which two terminals do I attach my oscilloscope probes ?
Thank you.
Set your power supply to 5V BEFORE you connect it, a resistor is not required.
Fit a 22KOhm resistor between Pins 2 and 3 (10kOhm is the minimum you should use)
Connect positive to Pin 1 (marked on the schematic)
Connect 0v (Ground) to Pin 2
Connect the "Probe" of the oscilloscope (usually a retractable hook) to Pin 3
Connect the "Ground" of the oscilloscope (usually a small crocodile clip) to Pin 2
Set the oscilloscope to DC (choice is DC-Gnd-AC)
Set the votage range to 1V/Div
Set the "Trigger" to "Auto" to see a straight line on the display
Set the timebase to 1ms or 10ms (I think! - just play around with this.)
I can be contacted by email via this site if you need any further advice.
