What is this called?.... (mechanical design of electronic equipment) ?
I have a problem, please read this and leave your suggestions. Any help will be apreciated
I plan to use 2 Surface mount (SMD) Light Emitting Diodes (LED) on a PCB. The PCB is about 12 mm from the panel of the enclosure . I need an optical path that will carry the light from the SMD to the panel of the enclosure.
I have seen some designers manage to do this using an acrylic cone/cylinder between the PCB and the Panel.
I don’t know what this is called….I need some literature about how to design this sort of optical path
These are called light pipes, you can choose a dual right angled light pipe,
Make sure the LED size fits the light pipe, Surface mount LED comes in different sizes for example 0603 or 0805
