Need to build wireless internet in a huge area?
i need the advice of some pros here. i want to set up a wireless internet in a 1km square area. if i use several accsess points, do they have to be wired?
or, i just found a product of d-link. it's like an anthena and say there are 18 and 21 dbi models so the rage of the wireless connection goes up to 5 - 8 km (!!!)
Here's what D-Link has to say:
ANT24-1400
Outdoor 14dBi High Gain Directional Panel Antenna
* 30° Horizontal Spread & 30° Vertical Spread
* 0.5m Length Pigtail Cable with N-Male to RP-SMA Supplied
* N-Female Connector
* Mounting Kit Supplied
* Extends Wireless Range up to 3 km
* Suitable for all IEEE 802.11b, 802.11g (D-Link Air, AirPlus,
AirPlusXtremeG) products with detachable antenna
now, i get a little confused here. what exactly will i need? will a regular wireless modem with just 2dbi and one of these d-link things would be enough??
Another option:
a wireless repeater like this one:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1130267578138&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
instead of beaming the signal to point a to point c, you can beam it to point a the b then c.
point b would have to be in the center, though.
