Why Oil Heating Could be Better than Other Alternatives
Living in a remote rural area or on an island would once have meant being cut off from the modern world. The UK still has small areas that don’t have mains electricity or gas, that have no choice but to use alternative power sources for everything. Of course nowadays no one is completely cut off provided they have electricity in the home. But for those who live a long way from any towns or cities, it’s important to find the most effective and reliable source of energy to power the home without the worry that it could fail and leave you stranded.
With all the new technologies for producing power a petrol-powered generator is far from the only way to create electricity. Alternative technologies using wind, water and solar power are being used more and more, and are an environmentally friendly way to produce power for the home. The main issue with these is that to work they require specicfic weather conditions, and as we all know the weather can be unreliable to say the least! To avoid the risk of being completely stuck if there was a problem, it’s a good idea to have a separate central heating system with a boiler that doesn’t rely entirely on your alternative power source.
One reliable way to heat the home is with an oil boiler that doesn't require any specific conditions, as long as you keep it topped up with oil. You have to order heating oil to refill the tank but although this can be expensive, especially if you buy it in the winter, it’s a fraction of what you’d pay to install solar panels or other alternative power sources at home. It’s easy to manage and with a bit of forward planning you can make sure you get the best deals by buying at the right time of year and in bulk with friends and neighbours.
