I need to know
How to charge a capacitor
how much a 1000µF 35V 20% Radial-lead Electrolytic Capacitor outputs
and how long it would last
One way to charge a capacitor is to place it in an electric circuit with a battery. you will absolutely need a resistor to charge the capacitor. this should only take a matter of seconds if you have a 1000µF capacitor. If you wish to discharge this capacitor connecting it to ground will cause it to discharge quickly and with high output. judging by your explanation you have a 35v capacitor which requires a 35v supply to function.
here is how to find your current output:
the current "i" is the derivative of charge with respect to time
i=dq/dt= (q/RC)*e^(-t/RC)
Where,
q is the initial charge on the capacitor... this depends entirely and meticulously on your set up.
R is you resistors value in ohms
C is you capacitance 1000µF
e is constant 2.7183
The amount of time it will take:
set this value equal to zero and solve for time
Does this confuse you?
It shouldn't... if it does than you should not be messing with capacitors
*If you simply cannot be stopped than use one hand at a time when configuring your set up. This way when you are electrocuted the current will not travel from hand to hand crossing paths with your heart and thus stopping it. all you have to do is touch a capacitor to discharge it. and all it takes to kill a man is .5A of current across the heart.
