Discovering Time Delay Relays And Their Uses
There are many applications where relays are used. Having a time delay function expands their usability for things like shock absorbers and contacts. Time delay relays have timers embodied in them that allow electrical triggers to occur at specific times. This is done by energizing or de-energizing a coil followed by the movement of an armature. They are set to be either normally open or normally closed, requiring a current to switch it from its current phase. The timer ensures that the circuit releases at a specific time and can be used to control many different applications such as powering lights, stereo systems and other electrical devices. Some are pre-fixed to a specific time, but there are some that can be moved up to 60 seconds.

Depending on how you want the time delay relay to function, the unit will either be initiated or de-initiated upon application of the signal. A time delay relay contains its own operational functions making it to have the ability to control any type of time abilities. Once the internal contacts complete/disrupt the circuit, the timed event is triggered. Before you make a purchase, make sure that you identify if you need a normally opened or normally closed timed relay, if you need a delay on operate or delay on dropout, or if the timed intervals need to be fixed or adjustable.
