how do you wire a solenoid to work a motor in reverse on the fly?
I have a solenoid that drives a motor clock-wise. i want to be able to switch it to go anti-clockwise by flipping a switch. any ideas?
If it's a dc motor, use a two-pole, double-throw switch with adequate ampacity.
IN (battery) OUT (motor)
---|--o-------|
(+)-----o | o---o---|-------(+)(-)
---|--o---| |
(-) -----o o-------o------(-)(+)
Connect + and - on the input side to the source (battery), on the ouptut side to the winding, plus two shunts to invert polarity (sorry for the diagram quality).
Don't invert polarity while the rotor is moving or it'll burn.
