Monitor in power save mode?
I have a desktop that suddenly stops displaying windows like the monitor is not receiving any signal from the desktop. I checked all cables took out and reinserted (also exchanged) RAMs and bought a new video card (existing has intenal) but did not work. I noticed i dont hear the usual beeps during boot up but i hear all the fans from the power supply, CPU is working. I tried taking out the RAM but no error sound too. I also see a constant red LED on the MOBO. Can anybody help me please? Thanks!
Now i cant do anything because i cant see anything on the monitor icant even go to F8.
I tried with working monitor and use my monitor on a working desktop and my old monitor work but the new one did the same thing on my desktop.
By seeing additional details I can assume that your monitor is faulty. If you have another monitor in your home or you can borrow from somebody, you can check it out to make sure.
Note: Disregard my previous instructions to click on power icon.
In response to additional details (if the answerer has all the details initially, he/she can answer more accurately).
1. Try booting with a floppy or CD, whatever you prefer, if you see the screen it means your windows is corrupt. It remembers all the errors and shut things up even if the error is wrong.
2. If it boots up and you have 2 partitions, install another windows in the other partition, this way you can salvage your files later.
3. If you don't have 2 partitions, then rename the windows folder and install windows over the old windows without formatting the drive and leaving the old file system intact. This way you can salvage your files.
OR
If your files aren't important or you are able to move your files by other means (there are many ways), please do a clean install.
