what is the injury to my knuckle? will it heal on its own, or will it require surgery?
while adjusting the shoulder strap on a full body harness I inserted my left index finger into a loop and atempted to pull slack thru the buckle. Sliding the stubborn strap horizontally to the right using only the single finger, I experienced a "pop" in the knuckle. It began to swell immediatly. This injury occured over a month ago and although the swelling has gone down a visible hard knot remains on thumb side of the knuckle. The joint remains sore and weak and my use of it is limited and painful. Why is there a knot? Why is it hard? Why won't the soreness go away? What the heck have I done to my knuckle?
You need to go to a doctor. You may have broken your thumb. I thought my finger was dislocated, but it was actually broken slightly off from the joint. After surgery and such it healed with a slight hard bump, which was a buildup of calcium. Seriously, if it is still hurting a month later, you need to go to a doctor. If it is infected and you leave it untreated you could cause serious problems for yourself.
