Which resistor do I get?
I am looking for a 1k ohm resistor, but when I look for one at radioshack.com they have the resistors that I am looking for but next to each of them they say something like 1/4 watt or 1/2 watt.
I am looking to get this piece because I ordered a DIY oscilloscope kit from seeedstudio.com; it came with everything except one smd resistor. Please also tell me if I replace a smd resistor with a normal resistor will everything still work.
IF it is a SMD resistor, then it is probably a very low power, and a 1/4 watt will work.
But SMD devices require special tools and a lot of practice to mount on a PC board, and it would be difficult to replace one with a lead type resistor. It may be possible, it depends on the circumstances.
