stab loc 15 amp double breaker wired with a 4 wire 220 V to my steam shower - Do I connect both hot ends ?
At the shower? Its just a 3 wire connection.
IF and only IF the heating device has 2 hot leads. For a 15 amp circuit, my first guess would be that the heating device is designed for 115 volts, at 15 amps. If this is true, then a single breaker with a capacity of 15 amps is all that you need. If the heating device does call for 220 volts, then you need to know how it is wired. It could be wired with 2 heating coils, each coil drawing power from one side of your breaker panel. That would be, from one side of the double breaker, a black wire connects to one side of the heating device's heating element, while the other side of the dual breaker connects to the other heating device. By color code for this, you will have 1 black wire, and one red wire. Between these two wires there will be a potential of 220 volts AC. The common connection point of the 2 heating elements, IF the heater is wired this way, would connect to the neutral (white) wire. Most likely, there would be 2 of those and they can be connected together since they actually go to ground anyway. Under no circumstances are you to connect the 2 hot wires together.
