Why is my friend wearing the standard digital pattern instead of a desert camoflauge in Iraq?
My friend is in the army as an 11B I believe and is currently in Iraq. He wears regular a digital pattern on his gear instead of the desert camo. Why is that? wouldn't it make more sense to be in the desert camo so they are not as noticeable? also it would be safer?
The Army used to have a Battle Dress Uniform and a Desert Combat Uniform, however with the release of the Army Combat Uniform (digital pattern) it replaced them both. The ACU was intended to replace both uniforms and cut costs by having a uniform that could function anywhere. While I think the army had a good idea they went with a crappy pattern that unless it is dusk or night time it doesnt do much to blend you in. Multicam FTW.
