How do I check a 220 outlet with a volt meter?
I have an old style push-button breaker panel as well as the old screw in type fuse box for the stove,water heater,and furnace blower. Can I use a digital multimeter to check if the 220 outlet is good and how do I go about it as far as the setting. Also, which contacts of the plug do I perform the test on?

set the dial at 300 volts
put 1 probe in one side of outlet other probe in other side, your meter should read 220 volts
