Don't Russian Women Just Want a Green Card?

Many people believe that women on international dating sites are only after one thing: a green card. While there are certainly ladies out there who want immigration rights, the majority of Russian women need a more compelling reason to uproot their lives for an unknown future across the ocean. So why are men so sure that Russian women want a green card and are these concerns justified?

They Believe Russia is a Terrible Place to Live

Many people are under the mistaken impression that Russian women are miserable in their home country and will do anything to get away. This is simply not true. Russia has come a long way since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and many Russians have managed to build happy, secure lives. Culture and commerce abounds, tourists flock to the country each year, and many Russian women enjoy successful careers. In addition, the ladies have strong relationships with friends and family and a lifetime of memories in their homeland. A Russian woman must give up a lot when she moves away and, believe it or not, a green card alone isn’t enough to make the difficult move worthwhile.

They Hear the Pervasive Horror Stories About the Russian Dating Industry

Who hasn’t heard a story about the friend of a friend who brought a wife from overseas only to learn she was after a green card? While this certainly happens from time to time, it is by no means the norm and men should not let such horror stories get in the way of their search for love. For every horror story out there, there are dozens of happy tales of Western men finding the woman of the dreams on international dating sites. Gentlemen who use a little common sense can often weed out bad apples on their own, so don’t let these exaggerated stories scare you away.

They’ve Had Bad Experiences

While some Russian dating services go to great lengths to ensure the validity of women on their sites, many other international services do not and it is these sites that give the international dating industry a bad name. Reputable websites take many precautionary measures to protect clients from would-be scammers, including conducting personal interviews, requiring video validation, and prohibiting ladies from requesting money or gifts, just to name a few. Keep this in mind when selecting a service to try.

In addition, many of the industry horror stories originate not from Russian dating sites, but from sites featuring women from other countries. It’s important to remember that Russian women do not face the same situation as would-be brides on other international sites, and therefore have different reasons for seeking love overseas. It’s possible that women outside of Russia are more motivated by a green card than Russian girls. Unfortunately, people tend to lump all women on international dating sites together, a common, yet unfortunate, mistake. Open-minded gentlemen should evaluate each dating site, and each lady, separately.
