Electric oven not working?
Hi, I have gas cooker with electric oven, which has stopped working. No light, no heat, no fan but the ignition switch seem to click.
I have checked the fuse and with a tester checked some of the points (I’m quite clued up about electrics).
Taking the bulb as an example. What’s strange is that I get power on both (live and neutral) points of the bulb. When I connected the bulb directly, without passing it via the oven switch, the bulb seems to work.
I opened the oven switch/knob but no lose connections there.
Any ideas??
Thanks guys for the answers but it's started to work.
Well...I thought it could be something to do with the switch sticking from all the symptoms, so I sprayed it with degreasing spray and left it to dry. The next day it started to work.
BTW Idac, I was referring to the gas hob ignition which is powered form the mains.
If you are getting power on both sides of the bulb ( l take it that is the oven light ) then there is a break down in the neutral connection. If the oven is plugged in to a socket then check the cable on the oven at both ends. If the oven is connected directly into a switch then check the connections in the switch and at the distribution board. If you are clued up then you know what precautions to take.
