i have a 2004 chevrolet venture the temperature gauge says its running hot?
but when the laser thermometer is aimed at the engine coolant temperature sensor it only reads 189 while the gaughre is almost maxed out on the dash we tested the sensor it was bad and cleared the computer no codes are or have poped up yet and we replaced the sensor and still the same problem the cooling fans are not turning on either please hel it has 80,000 miles on it
we just replaced the temperature sensor
what ever the problem is its keeping my fans off
Have you tried flushing the radiator? Completely drain the system and refill with new fluid. Also, there is a thermostat behind the water pump - the description you have give is fairly textbook for a bad thermostat or an improperly installed thermostat. I am a mechanic at a garage in South Carolina, so I see all sorts of issues. I have seen your situation many times, not on a venture, but on Silverado's and C-10's and it is usually the thermostat, but sometimes a good radiator flush will fix it.
