Canon Rebel XSi- How to shoot in focus on time delay?
I shoot fashion photography of myself. When I put the camera on 10 second delay and move into the shooting area of the camera-it shoots but comes out really blurry, unlike shots taken in shoot-and-focus. How can I get the same clear shots without having to focus it myself? I've tried setting the auto focus and everything-still isn't working!
Some good ideas but there's, as I see it, a really simple solution that may help providing you have enough light.
Set your camera (I own a Rebel XS) to the "P" (program) mode. This gives you some control that you won't have in full auto.
The one thing I've done is set my focus points to center only so I shoot mostly in the program mode.
By the way program leaves everything in auto accept the focus points.
You've got your camera set, lights on, selected the center of the background and, as you're doing,
use the 10-second timer. I've found that in self timer the camera grabs exposure and focus just before the shutter opens so regardless of the half press, the camera will re-grab just before the shot.
Step into the center of your frame as you've set up prior to pressing the shutter release. With your focus points set to center only (check your manual for details) the camera should grab focus and exposure on you and wala!
This process works well for me.
I have a question for you. Do you ever have blurry photos on flash? I was getting them so I now switch to manual where I've got settings at f/5.5 and 1/200 - it works very well. The camera always wanted to go to 1/60. That's too slow to hold the camera steady - just a thought I wanted to pass along.
