Photoelectric Sensors
The photoelectric sensors exploit the photoelectric properties of light. Whenever light enters the transparent bulb of a photo electric cell, it knocks out some electrons from the negatively charged plate (connected to the negative terminal of the battery) and is swept across the opposite terminals.
This flow of electrons constitutes electric current through of the order of micro amperes and is used to detect light in its applications, aptly termed as Photo electric Sensors.
There are four sensing types of Photo electric Sensors namely diffuse reflective, thru-beam, adjustable range reflective and retro-reflective.
• Diffuse Reflective is for short distances of 100 to 800 mm and has a 2mm diametric beam spot.
• Thru-beam is available in up to 15m; detecting distance models have the longest range.
• Adjustable Range Reflective is up to 300m detecting distance.
• Retro-Reflective is specialised model for transparent object detection.
All types are available with NPN or PNP transistor outputs.
Compact Photo electric Sensors
As the name suggests, these sensors are compact in size measuring as small as the size of your shirt's button. These sensors, when coupled with a high performance circuitry, can detect small height differences or detect transparent objects and also sense subtle differences in colour.
