Are these electronic parts compatible?
Ok, so I am making a proximity sensor or burglar alarm thing that is really small but I don't know much about electronics. If I bought all these parts, would they be compatible with one another and be able to serve as a proximity buzzer if I were to mount them correctly on a door or something?
1) Mini DC Buzzer
*3 VDC
*Typical current: 15 mA
2)Open Reed Switch- magnet operated (normally open OR closed)
*Switch type SPDT
*Current rating: 1A @ 150 VDC/VAC
*Power rating: 20W
*Breakdown voltage: 350 VDC
3) 3V/190mAh lithium coin cell battery with holder
4) Thin copper wire
5) Household magnet (do I need a certain strength of magnet to operate the switch?)
Hi.
My only doubt is that your button cell batery won't be capable of supplying the 15mA of current required by the buzzer. Typically they can safely supply 0.1 - 1mA. I would suggest using 2 1.5v AA batteries instead ( in series ) As for the magnet, yes it will need to have enough strength to operate the switch but that's just down to trial and error.
